Annual Movers Study: NC and SC Rank High for Relocation

United Van Lines 2016 Annual Movers Study

Every year United Van Lines compares inbound and outbound movers in each state.  So basically it is a relocation study.  They are able to determine which state is the nation’s “Top Moving Destination”.  In 2016, the top spot goes to South Dakota which broke the 3 year streak of Oregon.

“For 40 years, United Van Lines has been tracking which states people are moving to and from. We also survey our customers to understand why they are moving from state-to-state,” said Melissa Sullivan, director of marketing communications at United Van Lines. “As the nation’s largest household goods mover, the data we collect is reflective of national migration trends.”

For 2016, North Carolina ranks #8 and South Carolina ranks #5 as top inbound states.  While there is a movement to the Mountain and Pacific West, our areas lead the southeast.

Top Outbound States for 2016 were mostly in the northeast U.S.  This is obvious in our area as we constantly hear buyers moving away from the cold and snow.

The Carolina’s have consistently ranked high in this as well as other relocation studies.  In 2015 both states ranked very high in United Van Lines’ study.  Also in 2015, North Carolina ranked as the #1 top growth state by UHaul.

Mortgage Products for Carolina Buyers

Most of NC & SC areas are USDA eligible which allows for first time or move up buyers to purchase with 100% financing.  Vacation home buyers are able to use conventional loan financing to buy the chalet in the mountains, a house on the lake or river, and of course the beach house.  With so many military bases in NC & SC, VA home loans are very popular mortgage type and it allows service members and veterans to purchase with no money down or luxury homes with very little down and no monthly PMI.

We have a 5 star rating for a reason so trust us for your move to North Carolina or South Carolina!
